Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market
When: Every Tuesday May-October
Where: 16 S. Washington St.
Growing Hope’s Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market aims to increase access to fresh and healthy food while supporting our local economy and developing our downtown. Come down every Tuesday and stock up on locally grown and crafted foods and enjoy live music.

 

FFYFirst Fridays Ypsilanti
When: First Friday of the month
Where: Ypsilanti Area
First Fridays provides Ypsilanti’s rich community of local artists, business-venues, and citizens the invigorating opportunity to cross-promote each other on a monthly basis. Participating business include FLY Children’s Art Center, Bona Sera Cafe, The Ugly Mug, Beezy’s Cafe and more.

 

Depot Town Farmers Market
When: Every Saturday May-October
Where: Freighthouse Plaza
Run by Growing Hope, the Depot Town Farmers Market aims to increase access to fresh and healthy food while supporting our local economy and developing our community. With around 40 vendors each day, selling a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, home goods and more, you won’t want to miss out on this great weekly market.

 

Country in the City
When: October 2
Where: Library Plaza, Downtown Ypsilanti
Bring the kids downtown and spend a few hours having old-fashioned fun! Ride ponies, pet farm animals, get your face painted, dip beeswax candles, cut apple spirals, create Indian corn jewelry, churn butter and more! All activities are free.

 

 

Ypsi-Arbor Beer Week
When:
October 7-14
Where: Throughout Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor
Craft Beer is everywhere, it seems, and the cities of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor will soon be host to Michigan’s next Beer Week. Ypsi-Arbor Beer Week will feature craft beer events in area restaurants, bars, and retail establishments.Each event will feature craft beer, and will have some programmed element with craft beers presented by brewers or brewery representatives.

 

24-hour-film-shootoutYpsi 24 Hour Film Shootout
When:
October 8-9
Where: Throughout Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor
The Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout (Ypsi 24) is a community event for filmmakers to create a short film and share it at a community screening that brings together filmmakers, wannabe filmmakers, and film lovers. Welcoming filmmakers from across SE Michigan to compete for over $2400+ in prize money. 

 

Run Scream Run 5K
When: October 8
Where: Wiard’s Orchard
This run is a guaranteed favorite that will keep you comin’ back year after year! Wiard’s Orchard in Ypsilanti – voted number one horror attraction in Michigan – is the ideal place to give you a scare at this Halloween event!

 

 

Bike Ypsi Fall Ride
When: October 2016
Where: Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery, Ypsilanti Area
A free cycling event in celebration of fall, bicycles, fun, and friends. The Fall Ride starts and ends at the Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery, 1-3 PM. Two 15 mile routes (road and dirt) and a 30 mile road route. A great opportunity to learn ‘road rules’ and how to ride in groups. Bike shops will be at the Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery at noon- so bring your bike down early for a tune-up!


Highland Cemetery Tours

When: October 2016
Where: Highland Cemetery
Enjoy a guided tour hosted by local historian James Mann as he provides you with history of the cemetery, and those who stay there. Highland is an outstanding example of the “garden” or “rural” style of cemetery design, popular in this country during the 19th century. The garden cemetery movement sought to create tranquil places where visitors could find solace in the beauty of a natural setting.


Downtown Ypsilanti Halloween Festival

When: October 2016
Where: Library Plaza, Downtown Ypsilanti
Enjoy Halloween Downtown on Washington Street! Trick or treat at local businesses and stop by Library Plaza to eat popcorn, play games, and win books! The “Boo!Mobile” will be at the library too, with fun giveaways.

WCC Band | Halloween Concert

When: October 2016
Where: Morris Lawrence Building
The Washtenaw Community Concert Band will be performing “Portraits of Costumed Crime Fighters a Halloween Concert live Friday, October 30 at 7:30 pm at the Morris Lawrence Building.

 

Washtenaw County Area Events for October

Cranes, Colors, & Cabernet
When: October 2
Where: Sandhill Crane Vineyards, Chelsea-Grass Lake Area
Sandhill Crane Vineyards and Phyllis Haehnle Sanctuary celebration of the the annual sandhill crane migration. The vineyard will be open all day for tastings and cheer and stay open late for crane watchers. There will also be mulled wine available to snuff out any fall chills.
