Manchester

Manchester, situated on the River Raisin, was founded in 1833 and named after Manchester, England. The founders used the river’s water power to establish a thriving community, and the village expanded with a strong German heritage. We pride ourselves on retaining our small-town charm while providing a great variety of activities for the whole family.

We have several fine family restaurants, gift stores, antiques, and artist studios in downtown Manchester. View the River Raisin Mill Pond and dam raceway as it passes through our downtown. The village green, the Leonard Preserve and other parks offer beautiful settings and relaxing walking. Our unique Italianate architecture downtown preserves the charm of 19th century America, and includes several historic homes and churches.  Please enjoy our scenic village, shops and restaurants, as you live, work, play and grow in our town!

The Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce serves to promote and stimulate the commercial vitality of its members, consisting of businesses, service organizations and individuals located in or near Manchester. We host business and social activities which educate the public on members’ products and services, and speak as a unified voice on matters affecting our members. The Chamber is a member of the Gateway Communities Initiative, developing eco-tourism programs and promoting our agricultural and German attractions.

Please visit our display booth and obtain literature in the historic Manchester Mill building. Our website, www.48158.com, is continually updated with our current events and news. Our Facebook Fan Page provides the latest happenings and connections to community supporters.  We can also be reached at 734-476-4565.
