Chelsea, Michigan is wholesome, a tight knit community comfortable in its cornbread-caked skin. And though it is home to two international stars — “JIFFY” Mix and Jeff Daniels—it remains a town that Frank Capra would be proud of: Homey, sweet and welcoming to newcomers and old friends alike.

1. Chelsea Milling Company

Guests can take a tour through the “JIFFY” Mix packaging plant, makers of the world-famous line of baking products.

2. The Common Grill

3. Purple Rose Theatre Company
137 Park Street
Founded by actor and playwright Jeff Daniels, the Purple Rose Theatre Company is a theatre dedicated to featuring Midwestern actors, writers and directors.

4. Chelsea Alehouse Brewery
420 N. Main St
Located in Chelsea’s historic Clocktower Complex, the Chelsea Alehouse Brewery opened its doors in December 2012.  Featuring American and English style Ales, we aim to provide a wide variety of choices for the beer connoisseur and occasional beer drinker as well.

5. Art galleries
Visit the River Gallery, a fine art gallery committed to showcasing regional and national talent, and the Chelsea Center for the Arts, a community arts center offering visual arts classes and workshops, private lessons and group music instruction, gallery exhibitions and community outreach projects.

6. Waterloo Recreation Area

Waterloo Recreation Area is the largest park in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Located just west of Chelsea, it offers campgrounds, nature trails, swimming beaches, rustic cabins and fishing.

7. Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center

The Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center introduces visitors to the geology and natural habitats that are found within Waterloo Recreation Area.

8. Timber Town
North of downtown Chelsea, just off of Sibley Road
Timber Town is a 12,000 square foot wooden play structure that features a wooden climbing structure, swings, bridges, towers, slides, sandboxes and a climbing wall.

9. Reddeman Farms Golf Club

10. Chelsea Farmers’ Market
Downtown Chelsea on Park Street
The Chelsea Farmer’s Market is held from 8 a.m. until noon from May through October. Located in downtown Chelsea, the market offers organic produce, handmade crafts, cut flowers, eggs, meat, baked goods, jams and honey, annuals and perennials and specialty items.
